biography
Alexandra Roges (she/her) is a soprano from Southern California, currently based in New York City. Known as a versatile and expressive performer, her artistry spans operatic, music theatre, film, and choral works. Rooted in her Mexican and Cuban heritage, Alexandra’s musical passion lies in celebrating Latin American repertoire.
Alexandra currently sings with The Opera Collective, a non for profit organization dedicated to making opera accessible by performing in unconventional spaces. She has recently performed in Gwen Charles’s open studio as part of Charles’s artist-in-residency program with the New York Latin America Art Triennal on Governor’s Island.
A graduate of the Manhattan School of Music with a Master of Music degree, she has performed in partial roles such as Gretel in Hänsel und Gretel and Rosario in Goyescas. She has performed in the chorus for La Clemenza di Tito and the Latine Student Alliance’s Hispanic Heritage Month recitals of 2024 and 2025. As a student at the Manhattan School of Music, Alexandra completed a development internship with Opera on Tap.
In May 2024, Alexandra graduated from the Boston Conservatory at Berklee with a Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance. During her time there, she served as the Historian and Vice-President of the Latinx Student Alliance. Performance credits include Daughter in After Eve, commissioned by the Fenway Opera Club, and the chorus for L’Etoile and A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Partial role credits include Carolina in Il Matrimonio Segreto, The Sandman in Hänsel und Gretel, and Female Chorus in The Rape of Lucretia. She attended the program, Opera Viva, located in Verona, Italy in which she performed as Giannetta in L’Élisir d’Amore and Nannetta in Falstaff. Alexandra also completed a two year marketing internship with Guerilla Opera, marking her first experience in arts administration.
Alexandra was cast in the workshop for Caravana de Muejres composed by Nicolás Lell Benavides with MassOpera. The cast and instrumentalists spent the afternoon at Zumix, a community music school located in East Boston which serves many Latin, first generation, and immigrant students.
Her voice is featured on the song “Nuestro Amor, No Mas” from the film, “La Máscara de Emiliano”, directed by Roze JC Zepeda with music composed by Octaviano Roges. The film was premiered at Chapman University and screened at the Long Beach Queer Film Festival and the Utah Queer Film Festival.
She has perfomed in Pacific Chorale’s Choral Festival at Segerstrom Concert Hall conducted by Robert Istad. Alexandra has frequently sung at skilled nursing facilities, and believes music is a catalyst for personal healing and unity.
Alexandra extends her gratitude towards her mentors, family, and friends who remind her to embrace the complexities of music, care for her instrument, and always have an unwavering belief in her potential.
